So, get this. The most-watched film on Netflix isn't some big ol' action movie with The Rock, or one of those serious-face dramas that Leonardo DiCaprio is always in. Nope. It's an animated musical! Can you believe it? My friend told me this and I was like, "Nah, you're trippin'." But then I looked it up and, wow, it's true!

The movie is called KPop Demon Hunters. Isn't that a silly name? But apparently, it's a huge deal. It's about a K-pop girl group who are secretly demon hunters. So they're singing and dancing and, like, fighting monsters at the same time. I guess that's a pretty cool mix. The movie has had a mind-blowing 236 million views, which totally beats out the old champ, Red Notice. That's the one with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot. I mean, you'd think those three superstars would win, right? But the K-pop girls were too powerful, I guess.
And get this, the movie's soundtrack is so popular that four of its songs were on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. That's never happened before in the history of the chart, or at least that's what I read somewhere. One of the songs, "Golden," even went to number one. It's crazy! They're saying this movie is Netflix's version of Frozen, which made a bajillion dollars for Disney, you know, with all the toys and stuff.
The funny part is, the movie was made by Sony Pictures Animation, but they sold it to Netflix for, like, a flat fee a long time ago. So now Netflix is making all this money on the merchandise and the sing-along events in theaters, and Sony is just sitting there with their measly $20 million profit from the deal. It's a real bummer for them. They totally underestimated how big this thing would get. I guess they let go of their Frozen a little too soon, haha.
And as for Leo DiCaprio, his big Netflix movie was Don't Look Up. It was also super popular, but it's not even close to the numbers of KPop Demon Hunters. It's a comedy-drama about a comet hitting Earth, and he's one of the astronomers trying to tell everyone but no one listens. It was good, but not "watch it a million times" good, I guess.
So yeah, the big takeaway is that an animated movie about K-pop stars fighting demons is the biggest thing on Netflix. Who would've think it? Not me, that's for sure!
