Wow, okay, so the MTV Video Music Awards for 2025 are shaping up to be a real barn burner! I just spent like, way too long looking up the nominees and my brain is a little scrambled, but here's what I got.

First of all, let me tell you, it's a battle of the pop titans. Lady Gaga is leading the pack with, like, a zillion nominations. Okay, not a zillion, but 12, which is basically the same thing. Her new album, Mayhem, and her song "Abracadabra" are all over the place. I love that song, it's so witchy. Bruno Mars is right on her heels with 11 nominations. He and Gaga have a duet, "Die With A Smile," which is also nominated a bunch. It's so cute that they're working together!
Then you've got Kendrick Lamar, who is also a huge contender. I mean, his song "Not Like Us" is nominated for a whole bunch of stuff, including Video of the Year, which is, like, the big one. He's got 10 nominations total, so he's definitely in the running to take home a bunch of Moon Persons, or whatever those statue things are called.
The other big one is Sabrina Carpenter. She's everywhere right now, and her song "Manchild" is getting a lot of love, and so is her album Short n' Sweet. She has nine nominations, so she's right up there with the big shots. Also, her song from last year, "Espresso," won Song of the Year, so she's already got a VMA. That's so cool.
Okay, so this is like, the classic lineup. Taylor Swift is nominated, of course, but she only has one nomination this year which is kinda wild since she usually has, like, all of them. Gaga is a strong contender, and so is Kendrick. Honestly, I could see any of these people winning. I feel like it's a popularity contest, and they're all super popular.
They even added a new category this year, which is called "Best Pop Artist." I guess they realized that "Best Pop" wasn't enough, which is a good point!
So, first off, let's talk about the big, main ones that everyone argues about on Twitter.
Video of the Year
This is the one that gets all the headlines. The nominees are:
