The Bengal Files: Day 8 Collections Prove It's No Kashmir Files

Ugh, okay, so I've been trying to figure out the box office numbers for The Bengal Files on its eighth day, and it's a bit of a mess. You know how these things are. The websites all say different stuff, it's like they're making it up as they go along! But I think I've got the gist of it.

So, The Bengal Files came out a while back, like last week. It was on a Friday, right? Let me check... yeah, September 5th. So Day 8 would be the following Friday, September 12th. I knew it!

Anyway, for some reason, the movie just kind of... fizzled out. It had a pretty decent first weekend, you know? Like, it made a couple of crores each day. But then the weekdays hit, and it was a bit of a snoozefest. It was making about a crore each day, which is, like, fine, I guess? But it's not The Kashmir Files numbers, that's for sure. I mean, that one was a thunderclap, this is more like a polite cough in the back row.

On Day 8, which was the second Friday, the collections just took a nosedive. It's like everyone decided to go see Baaghi 4 or that new horror movie, The Conjuring: Last Rites, instead. From what I can gather from all the different reports (and they really are all over the place!), The Bengal Files only made around ₹55 lakhs. Yeah, you read that right. Lakhs. Not crores. Some of the early estimates were even lower, like ₹30 lakhs! Can you believe it? The final number is around ₹0.55 crore, which is just a fancy way of saying ₹55 lakhs. It's the lowest it's made since it came out.

This brings its grand total after eight days to about ₹11.8 crore. It's like, so close to ₹12 crore, but it just missed it. So sad.

And the occupancy? Don't even get me started. In the morning, it was like 11%... so basically just me, my uncle who is a total history buff, and maybe a few stray students dodging their classes. It got a little better in the evening, with the night shows reaching a whopping 43% occupancy. Still, a lot of empty seats, you know?

So, yeah, Day 8 was a real bummer for The Bengal Files. It's not a total flop, I guess, but it's definitely not a hit. It's just... there. Like a car in the middle of the road with a flat tire. It's not a disaster, but it's not going anywhere fast.
