Border 2 Day 1 Box Office: Sunny Deol’s Epic Comeback Shatters Records!

Oh man, the hype for Border 2 was actually insane! Since today is Saturday, January 24, the numbers for the big opening yesterday (Friday, Jan 23, 2026) are finally rolling in. Honestly, I didn't think it would live up to the 1997 original, but Sunny Paaji still has that magic.

Here is the "detailed" breakdown of how it did on Day 1 (at least from what the trade experts are screaming about on Twitter):

The Big Numbers (India)

According to the early reports from sites like Sacnilk and other trade gurus, the movie had a massive start.

Day 1 Net Collection (India): Around ₹30.00 Crore to ₹33 Crore. (Some people are saying 36, but let's stick to the safe side).

Day 1 Gross Collection: Roughly ₹36.00 Crore.

Occupancy: It started a bit slow in the morning (about 20%), but by the evening shows, it was almost 35-40% full. In the "mass circuits" like Bihar and UP, many single screens were actually housefull!

Quick Stats

Budget: Somewhere around ₹275 Crore (Which is a lot of parathas!)

Screens: Over 6,000 screens worldwide (mostly in India though)

Star Cast: Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Suniel Shetty's son, Ahan.

Director: Anurag Singh (The Kesari guy, I think?)

A Few Random Observations

The "Dhurandhar" Comparison: I heard it actually beat the opening of Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar which came out recently. It’s crazy that a sequel coming out like 30 years later can still do these kinds of numbers.

Emotional Damage: My friend told me they remade Sandese Aate Hain (or was it Ghar Kab Aaoge? Same thing, right?) and everyone in the theater was crying.

The Sunny Factor: Even though Sunny Deol is older now, when he shouts, the theater speakers still rattle. It's vintage stuff.

The Ban: Oh! I read somewhere that it got banned in the Gulf countries (UAE, Qatar, etc.) because of the "sensitive" 1971 war topics. That might hurt the overseas total a bit, but honestly, India is where the real money is for this one.

It’s definitely on track to be a "Super-Duper Hit" if the Saturday and Sunday jumps are big. Since Monday is a holiday for Republic Day (well, close to it, Jan 26 is Monday!), it's going to have a massive 4-day weekend.

Would you like me to keep an eye on the Day 2 numbers for you tomorrow?
