So, the big news everyone's talking about right now is whether Emraan Hashmi is coming back for Taskaree Season 2. The first season just dropped on Netflix (literally yesterday, Jan 14, 2026!), and honestly, people are already binge-watching it like crazy.

Director Raghav Jairath (who co-directed with the legend Neeraj Pandey) finally spoke up about it in an interview with India Today, and here is the lowdown on what he said.
Will there be a Season 2?
Raghav was kind of mysterious but also hopeful. He said that while they usually like to give every show a proper "closure" (so it doesn't feel unfinished), they are totally open to more.
The "Audience Love" Factor: Basically, if we—the fans—show enough love and the numbers are good on Netflix, they’ll do it.
The Special Ops Precedent: He actually compared it to Special Ops. He mentioned how they had an end in mind for that too, but then the character was so popular they just had to expand it. So, there's definitely a "never say never" vibe here.
Why Emraan Hashmi?
Raghav gushed a bit about Emraan. Apparently, casting him as Arjun Meena (the Customs officer) was a "unanimous" decision. There wasn't even a debate.
The Audition: Or lack thereof! Raghav said it was just a 2.5-minute narration and Emraan just said, "Let's do it."
The "Grey" King: The director feels Emraan is perfect because he can play those "shades of grey" really well—you know, that mix of a devil and an angel in his eyes.
